The short version
- Cancelly stores the trials you add and the email address you sign in with, so it can remind you before a trial turns into a charge.
- It never asks for your bank login, card numbers, contacts or location, and it never reads your inbox.
- If you forward an email to Cancelly, it reads that one message to find the trial’s details and keeps only those details, not the message.
- You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app at any time.
- We do not sell your personal data.
This policy explains what information Cancelly collects, why, and the choices you have. Cancelly is published by Kitovo (“Kitovo”, “we”, “us”). If anything here is unclear, email support@kitovo.in.
Pending confirmation. This policy describes Cancelly as it is built today. A few details that depend on the final Android release are marked “Pending confirmation” below. They will be filled in, and the date at the top updated, as soon as they are confirmed.
Information Cancelly collects
Your account
- Email address. Used to sign you in (with a six-digit code sent to your email, instead of a password) and to send you reminders.
- Time zone. Used so that dates and reminders are worked out in your local time.
- Basic settings, such as your language and currency preferences and your reminder settings.
Your trials
For each trial you add, Cancelly stores its name and the date it turns into a charge, plus anything optional you choose to add, such as the price, a link to cancel, or a short note. It also stores the trial’s status (for example, kept or cancelled) and a history of changes to it, such as when you edited its date.
If you mark a trial as cancelled and it has a price, Cancelly records that amount so it can show you how much you avoided paying.
Emails you forward
Cancelly gives you a personal forwarding address. When you forward a message to it:
- the message is read automatically to find the service’s name, the date the trial turns into a charge and, where present, the price and a link to cancel;
- Cancelly keeps those details, the short phrase the date was read from (so you can check it was read correctly) and the sending domain (for example, “example.com”);
- Cancelly does not keep the body of the message, its subject line or the sender’s email address.
Forwarded messages are received for us by an inbound email provider (see Service providers).
Pending confirmation. How long the inbound email provider keeps its own copy of forwarded messages before deleting it.
Reminder delivery
To make sure your reminders arrive, Cancelly keeps a record of the reminders scheduled and sent for each trial, and of the delivery reports our email provider sends back (for example, whether a message was delivered or bounced). If reminders to your address keep bouncing, or you mark them as spam, Cancelly stops sending reminders to that address.
We also keep a short log of a few important account events, such as replacing your forwarding address or changing your plan.
Advertising in the free version
The free version of Cancelly shows one small, labelled ad at the bottom of your trial list.
The ad is served by Google AdMob. To show the ad and measure how it performs, AdMob collects information from your device, such as your device’s advertising ID, your IP address and how you interact with the ad. Ads may be personalized using that information. Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can limit personalized ads by deleting or resetting your advertising ID in your phone’s ad settings (on most Android phones, under Settings › Privacy › Ads or Settings › Google › Ads). Cancelly Premium removes the ad entirely.
Cancelly Premium
Cancelly Premium removes the ad from the free version.
Premium is bought through Google Play, and Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We never see your card or payment details, and we never ask you to type a card number into Cancelly. Google tells us whether your purchase is active, along with its order details, so we can turn Premium on for your account.
Diagnostics
Pending confirmation. Whether the Android app includes crash reporting or usage analytics, which provider is used, and what it collects.
What Cancelly does not collect
Cancelly never asks for your bank login or card numbers, does not have access to your email inbox, and does not ask for your contacts or your location.
How we use your information
- To run Cancelly: storing your trials, working out when to remind you, sending reminders and reading the emails you forward.
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To keep reminders reliable: checking that reminders are delivered and fixing problems when they aren’t.
- To help you when you contact support.
We do not sell your personal data.
Service providers
Cancelly relies on a small number of providers that process data on our behalf, only to provide the service:
- Supabase: database and sign-in. Stores your account and trial data.
- Resend: sends reminder emails.
- Postmark: receives the emails you forward to Cancelly.
- Google AdMob: shows the ad in the free version (see Advertising in the free version).
- Google Play: processes Cancelly Premium purchases.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
Where your data is stored
Your account and trial data is stored by Supabase in Japan (its Tokyo region). Our other providers may process information in other countries, including the United States.
How long we keep it
- Account and trial data is kept while you have an account. When you delete your account, your account and everything attached to it, including your trials, reminder history and forwarding address, is deleted from our database.
- Forwarded emails are not stored by Cancelly. Only the details read from them are kept, and those are deleted with the trial or with your account.
- Support emails are kept as long as we need them to help you.
- Backups: our current database plan does not include daily backups, so we do not keep backup copies of your data. If that changes, this section will say how long backups are kept.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete any trial from inside the app.
- Delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app, at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or anything else about how it’s used, by emailing support@kitovo.in.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. We will respond to requests within the time the law requires.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each account can only read and change its own data, and that rule is enforced by the database itself, not just by the app. Your forwarding address works like a password for adding trials: if you think someone else knows it, email us and we will replace it.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and collect as little as possible in the first place.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to use Cancelly. Cancelly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email support@kitovo.in and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also let you know in the app or by email.
